HORSE RIDING PROGRAM
10 DAYS
9 NIGHTS
The
desert between Wadi Rum and Petra is awe inspiring in its
beauty and extraordinary moon like landscape. It is a region
filled with history, battles and revolutions reaching back
as far as the old testament when Solomon and Aaron passed
through in their search for the promised land.
Its commercial importance peaked during
the Nabatean area, when gold silks and perfumes were carried
along the same paths we will be treading. Our trek starts
from their capital, Petra a symbol to their success and
wealth remains one of the wonders of the world and finishes
in wadi rum , scene of the Arab uprising in the 1920's
championed by Lawrence of Arabia .
As we make our way south we cannot but
wonder and admire the advanced technology used by this
extraordinary trading nation to trap and carry the little
rain that falls in this arid desert. A trek you are unlikely
ever to repeat or forget.

What is Wadi Rum:
To the Arabs Wadi Rum is known simply as
The Valley of The Moon. to travelers who have roamed its
vast landscape, Wadi Rum seems more akin to the surface of a
distant planet than to anything on earth. the combination of
its immensity, color and awe-inspiring shapes creates an
atmosphere that is almost supernatural. Lawrence of Arabia
who held Wadi Rum in high esteem, wrote: “ Our little
caravan grew quite self conscious, and fell dead quiet,
afraid and ashamed to flaunt its smallness in the presence
of the stupendous hills ----Landscapes in childhood’s
dreams were so vast and silent.” (T. E. Lawrence: The Seven
Pillars of Wisdom). Wadi Rum’s immensity is hard to leave.
The longer you spend there the more you become attached to
it--- and the more you long for it when you are gone. The
Valley of the Moon makes man tremble at the power and
majesty of nature.
